"Rona," Religion, and Rural Communities
Abstract
In many cultures "healing" is associated with religious space. Cultural and traditional spaces of worship inform the daily lived experiences of community members. A typological approach to the examination of healing in religious spaces, or complementary alternative "medico" healing in constructed spaces is argued to be most appropriate; however, for this AAA flash session, a closer investigation of COVID-19 ('rona) within communities who practice alternate forms of healing and health care is better suited. This approach reveals subjectivities, relativities, and multiplicities of the illness narrative. Keeping this in mind, this flash presentation is informed and explored within a Rona (COVID-19)-related public discourse and healing space(s) frameworks.
